The Hao Han Language Center is a home-based language school in Beijing, China, that provides students with group and private Mandarin Chinese lessons. Our objective is to enable our students to converse in Mandarin in as little time as possible. This being the case, we differ from many other schools in that our lessons focus almost exclusively on speaking and listening exercises. Inasmuch as is possible, we shun teaching methods that rely on mindlessly parroting the teacher or that involve bombarding students with grammatical rules and exercises. Students are certainly made to repeat information and learn grammar in our courses; however, for the most part they do so by way of engaging in question-and-answer drills or conversations. If you're looking for Mandarin lessons that "force" you to listen to and speak Mandarin from the moment you enter the class until the moment you leave, then we offer the sort of instruction you're looking for. Our courses encompass a large spectrum of ability, so students can be sure to find classes suited to their Mandarin level at our school. (Read more here: Lessons.) Our instructors are all university graduates with at least two years of experience teaching Mandarin as a foreign language, and they employ participatory teaching methods that afford the students plenty of time to engage in speaking and listening activities in class.
